The Catch Your Limit softball teams embarrassment of a season ended last night in the form of 28-18 drubbing handed down by a spirited Florida Pandemic Insurance team. It was the finishing touch to a masterpiece (see dogs playing poker) of a season that saw the fish lose eight in a row down the stretch. The final record for the Fish: 1 win 9 losses.
"I'm not quite sure what went wrong last night, but it could have been that 16 run 3rd inning they posted." Team Manger Scott Baxley said. "Our outfielders are gonna have to recover from whiplash after all the dingers they hit." Baxley added. FPI ended the night with 15 home runs.
While the CYL Fish could only muster one victory this fall season the friendships forged will last at least until the holidays, after that most interactions between teammates will come in the form of awkward grocery store sightings and backyard barbecues.
One moral victory from last night is the CYL Fish set a fall record for attendance, 2 (3 if you include catcher Jon Grauer's unborn child). "It was uhhhh great!" Marcy Grauer exclaimed. Over the ten game season the Fish averaged .8 fans per game good enough for 78th in the league, not bad.
The Fish will have until spring to resurrect their heart, courage, and offense for yet another season of softball. Several voodoo men and hypnotists have been summoned to team headquarters on Delta Blvd. "Our fans shouldn't be discouraged, we'll be back next year." Baxley said.
