All we need is a small group of committed people to show our White Hat information.
What? What are you talking about?
White hat information, "Just the facts" as Joe Friday used to say. Give us a small group of committed people with whom to share the facts and we can help them create change.
What? How?
Well, we lay out the facts and we give the folks red "energy dots." They place their dots next to the topics they want to discuss first and we walk the cadre through each topic focusing one just one thing at atime. It's amazing how much you can get done when you're all talking about the same thing at the same time and only the same thing at the same time. Have you ever been in a conversation where someone was dominating the floor trying to convince everyone their idea or solution was right?
(Groan) Too many times.
Well, we create an environment where people can focus on the best solution as opposed to lobbying for their point of view.
Anyway once we work through the process with the small group, they go to senior management with their vision of how to get from where their organization is now to where it wants to go.
What happens then?
Well, ususally, because the ideas have been so thoroughly and critically thought through they embrace the plan.
Then we ask others in the organization to apply to become a part of the solution.
Apply?
Well, yeah, who wants to work with draftees?
Once people have applied we select our team and then they start to execute the plan.
It's amazing what a small group of committed people can do.
Our clients provide their people with clear goals, give them the tools they need and get out of their way.
What's all this got to do with creating an environment where leadership can flourish?
Well, leadership's about 'initiating and sustaining change' and that's what I just described.
Oh, yeah the other part of being a leader is 'growing new leaders'.
Our clients' are growing a fine new crop.
Come to think of it the young folks in our office are showing promise as well.
